The ProductiveLinux LiveCD Project (Currently on Hold)

Update: I know this is taking quite a bit longer than I originally thought. I’ve run into a couple show-stopping bugs, and I’m learning how to properly build a live-cd. This may be a while in coming yet.

What is it?
The ProductiveLinux LiveCD is a complete, general purpose desktop operating system that can be installed to all sorts of media (usb drive, zip disk, hard drive) or run completely off the CD. It is optimized to encourage a productive workflow through an aesthetically pleasing interface, smart choice of applications, and minimal memory overhead for fast speeds. It is a remaster (custom install) of Puppy Linux 3.01. Therefore, it is hardly a distribution in its own right, as it depends completely and entirely on the work done by by real distro builders like BarryK and the rest of the Puppy Linux team.

Why should you download and use The ProductiveLinux LiveCD? Read on for a list of key features:

Ease of use. Your grandmother could use this.

Speed. It loads completely into RAM on many computers. Applications open instantly or in just a few seconds.

Portability. Take your operating system with you on CD or USB disk.

Stability.
It’s Linux. It won’t crash. And if it does, it’ll recover gracefully.

Familiar Interface. Windows users will feel at home in many aspects of using the ProductiveLinux LiveCD.

Everything You Need. The ProductiveLinux LiveCD, while less that 140MB in size, contains all the applications you need for daily use, including Firefox for Internet browsing, Thunderbird with the Lightening extension for email, contacts, and calendaring, MtPaint for basic photo editing, sound recording software, a personal wiki, and even more!

Simple Software Installation/Removal. Use a specialized application to search for and install software in seconds! Add midi sequencing, advanced photo editing, the full OpenOffice.Org Suite, Google Desktop for Linux and more!

Friendly Support Community.
Since this is merely a remaster of Puppy Linux with custom applications, all the information on Puppy Linux resource sites is available and applicable.
