Open Source Twitter Client Gwibber Adds Replies Tab

November 18th, 2008 | 2 Comments

I did a recent update of the Gwibber micro-blogging client from their Ubuntu PPA, and I was extremely pleased to see that they’ve added the ability to sort by replies via a special tab in the interface. This is a welcome improvement that makes Gwibber the most productive micro-blogging client for me on the Linux desktop.

And while you’re at it, why not follow me on Twitter or Identi.ca?

P.S. I also recently tried out the closed sourced Twirl. While it’s not lacking in features, I actually wasn’t a fan of the interface or the way it handled multiple accounts. With this addition of a replies tab in Gwibber, I think it’s easily one the very best choices as a Twitter/Identi.ca client for the Linux platform.

  1. I’m totally with you–the way Gwibber handles Twitter and Identi.ca is, imho, exactly the way it ought to be done.

Now, if I could just figure out how to turn half that chrome. The whole thing’s really big and bubbly.

  2. Another feature that I noticed got slipped in, is that if you click on a #tag in a message, it will open up a separate tab which follows messages which include the selected tag. Pretty cool.
