Manage Your Contacts at the Command Line

Many people keep notes and todo items in text files these days, for a myriad of reasons. Low file size, universal portability, and easy searching are just some of the advantages to keeping your information in plain text. But contact management? I always assumed it would just get too hard to deal with many contacts in one file, with multiple fields of information for each entry. Linux.Com has a great article, though, on managing all of your contacts in a single text file from the command line. Not only that, but the article outlines how to create some simple scripts to quickly add and retrieve information, all from a terminal window. I can see how adding some Zenity commands to these scripts might yield an effortless way to manage all your contact information.
