This Just In: Amazon MP3 Downloader Released For Linux
March 2nd, 2008 | No comments yet...what do you think?

In case you haven’t heard, Amazon started offering DRM (Digital Rights Management) free music for sale on its website, AmazonMP3. With most tracks at only 89 cents and a catalog that rivals iTunes’, Amazon is quickly becoming a leader in the online music biz. And what’s even more awesome: as of today, their specialized album downloader (which allows discounts for purchasing a whole record) is fully supported on Linux. Packages are provided for Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and OpenSuse. I haven’t had chance to actually download an album yet, but the app installed fine on my Ubuntu system.
Have a look, because this kind of freedom is unprecedented in the mainstream music arena. Kudos, Amazon!
