Get Your Multimedia Keys Working
Posted on July 31st, 2007 by nathan
So you just snapped up that snazzy new keyboard and it’s got some nice shortcut keys up at the top you’d like to use. A mere 3 or 4 years ago, I would have told you to give up; it’s probably a waste of time. These days, though, many keyboards are fully supported under Linux. The first place to see if you can configure those keys in GNOME is the keyboard shortcuts menu, found in System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts. Try seeing if GNOME autodetects your keys when you press them. If you’re still not having luck, take a look at this thread on Ubuntu Forums that has a pretty comprehensive guide to getting those little suckers to work.
