People are talking a lot lately about the various ways of emulating the MacOS X Dock. Standouts in discussion include Engage (for the Enlightenment window manager), Kiba-dock, and the Avant Window Navigator. All these are great works-in-progress, and include a lot of juicy eyecandy, but in the end, most are less than stable or (in the case of Engage) require switching window managers or are just hard to configure. As toys, they’re great fun. But as far as actually working to make your life on the desktop easier, they’re just not there yet.
