There’s great discussion over at nixternal on whether or not the new Google Desktop for Linux is spyware. Could be…but if you’re willing to risk it, I hear it indexes gmail, which is pretty awesome. Currently I have evolution check gmail, beagle index evolution, and search beagle with deskbar.

I like the idea of index gmail directly, but then…does the Google Desktop integrate with deskbar? I doubt it.
